January 31 (SeeNews) - The number of foreign tourists who visited Montenegro in 2017 rose 19.2% to 843,609, the country's statistical office said on Wednesday.
The total number of tourists who stayed in the country in 2017 increased by 18.1% to 955,499, the statistical office said in a statement.
In December alone, the number of foreign tourists who visited Montenegro rose 43.7% on the year to 23,410, while the total number of tourists who stayed in the country increased by an annual 32.7% to 30,668.
Tourist overnights in December totalled 64,444, up 33.2% year-on-year.
Visitors from Albania accounted for 21.2% of all overnights in December, followed by tourists from Serbia with a 16.5% share, Israel with 7.3%, Croatia with 6.1%, Turkey with 5.7%, Bosnia and Herzegovina with 5.2%, Italy with 3.7%, and Russia with 3.5%.
Seaside resorts attracted 54.8% of all overnight stays in December, followed by the country's capital Podgorica with 23.0%, mountain resorts with 13.3% and other resorts with 8.9%.
