Juvenile released on electronic monitoring after threating middle school and school administrator

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) – A juvenile has been arrested after threatening school staff.
According to the Carbondale Police Department on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, they arrested a juvenile offender for making terroristic threats and disorderly conduct.
Allegedly the juvenile threatened an act of violence against a school administrator and students at the Carbondale Middle School.
The juvenile offender appeared in court on October 30, 2024, for a first appearance and detention hearing on the charges.
The offender was released from the court appearance with an electronic monitoring device.
There are court-ordered conditions the offender has to comply with.
For the safety of the public and the offender, it was recommended to Juvenile Probation and the Court that the offender be detained in a juvenile detention facility. However Juvenile Probation could not find a facility to detain the offender.
